Ramadan 2027 UAE Guide: Expected Dates, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha Holidays and How to Plan Your Leave
By Amani Khan

Ramadan is expected to begin in the UAE on Monday, February 8, 2027, with Eid Al Fitr on March 9 or 10 and a four-day Eid Al Adha break from May 15 to 18. Every date depends on official moon sightings.
Planning ahead for the holy month and the Eid holidays is easier when you know the likely dates early. These are tentative dates. The final dates will be confirmed by the relevant UAE government authorities after crescent moon sightings.
Ramadan 2027 UAE at a Glance
- Ramadan begins: expected on Monday, February 8, 2027
- Length of Ramadan: 29 or 30 days
- Eid Al Fitr: expected on Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10, 2027
- Eid Al Fitr holiday: three paid days, or four if Ramadan lasts 30 days
- Possible six-day break: March 9 to 14, for residents on a Saturday-Sunday weekend, subject to official confirmation
- Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha: expected four-day public holiday from May 15 to 18, 2027
Ramadan 2027 UAE Dates Are Tentative: How Moon Sighting Works
The Islamic Hijri calendar follows the moon, and each month begins with the sighting of the new crescent. That is why official dates can only be confirmed shortly before each occasion. Astronomical calculations give an early indication, but the decision rests with the relevant UAE authorities once the crescent has been sighted or not sighted.
The Hijri year is shorter than the Gregorian year, so Ramadan and the Eid holidays move roughly 10 to 11 days earlier each year. That is why the dates in this Ramadan 2027 UAE guide differ from those of 2026.
Ramadan 2027 UAE Start Date: Monday, February 8
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday, February 8. In October, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, told the Al Khaleej newspaper that Ramadan is expected to last either 29 or 30 days.
The length of the month decides the date of Eid Al Fitr, so the sighting of the Shawwal crescent at the end of Ramadan is the next key date to watch.
Ramadan 2027 UAE Explained: Fasting, Iftar, Suhoor and Community
Throughout Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn until sunset. The fast is broken each evening with iftar, and suhoor is eaten before dawn. The holy month is also a time for increased worship, generosity and strengthening community ties.
For residents of all backgrounds, Ramadan changes the rhythm of daily life in the UAE, from opening hours to the pace of the evening.
Ramadan 2027 UAE Work and Daily Life: What Changes for Residents
In previous years, UAE private-sector employers have reduced working hours by two hours a day during Ramadan. Confirm the rule for 2027 with your employer and with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, because announcements are made closer to the month. Government working hours are announced separately by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Ramadan 2027 UAE Ends With Eid Al Fitr: Two Possible Dates
Eid Al Fitr is expected to fall on Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10, 2027, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.
- March 9: if the crescent is sighted on the evening of March 8, Ramadan ends after 29 days
- March 10: if the crescent is not sighted, Ramadan completes 30 days and Eid begins the following day
Astronomical calculations indicate that the Eid Al Fitr break could begin on March 10 if Ramadan lasts 30 days.
Ramadan 2027 UAE Eid Al Fitr Holiday: How Many Days Off?
Under Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, the Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha holidays follow the lunar Hijri calendar. Unlike other national holidays, Eid holidays cannot be moved to the beginning or end of a week to create a longer weekend. The UAE government portal publishes official information on public holidays.
- Public- and private-sector employees receive three paid holidays for Eid Al Fitr, covering the first three days of Shawwal
- If Ramadan lasts 30 days, the 30th day is also a public holiday, which extends the break to four days
- In 2027, a 30-day Ramadan would mean a holiday from March 9 to 12, including Ramadan 30 on March 9 and Eid Al Fitr from March 10 to 12
- If Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid begins on March 9, so by the same rule the three Eid days would run from March 9 to 11. Wait for the official announcement to confirm
Could Ramadan 2027 UAE Bring a Six-Day Eid Break?
It could, in the 30-day scenario. If the holiday runs from March 9 to 12 and the weekend follows immediately, residents on a Saturday-Sunday schedule could enjoy a six-day break from March 9 to 14. This is subject to official confirmation.
Because Eid holidays cannot be moved, the break depends entirely on the length of Ramadan and the official sighting. Do not assume a six-day break until the authorities announce it.
After Ramadan 2027 UAE: Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha From May 15 to 18
Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha are expected to bring a four-day public holiday from May 15 to May 18, 2027. Arafah Day, one of Islam's holiest days, is followed by Eid Al Adha, which brings three additional days of public holiday.
The exact dates will depend on the official sighting of the Dhu Al Hijja crescent moon.
Planning note: in 2027, May 15 falls on a Saturday and May 18 on a Tuesday, so check how the holiday fits your own work week.
