UAE Weekend Weather: Rain Chances in East and North, Dry Diwali Forecast for Sunday
The UAE weekend weather will bring sunshine, cloud and possible showers over eastern and northern areas, with a largely dry Diwali forecast for Sunday.
By Amani Khan

The UAE weekend weather will bring a mix of sunshine, clouds and possible showers, with rain chances mainly over eastern and northern parts of the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). Residents celebrating Diwali on Sunday can expect a largely dry day with fair to partly cloudy skies.
UAE Weekend Weather at a Glance
The UAE weekend weather will not be uniform nationwide. Showers are most likely over areas that typically include Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah's east coast and the Hajar mountain areas. The main cities will stay hot and hazy. Friday is shaping up as the most unsettled day, rain chances ease slightly on Saturday, and Sunday is forecast to be dry.
What Is Driving the Unsettled Conditions
The NCM said the unsettled conditions are linked to a weak surface pressure system, along with an extension of a weak upper-air low-pressure system. Together, these are encouraging convective clouds to build up over the eastern and northern areas. That is why the UAE weekend weather outlook carries rain chances in those regions rather than across the whole country.
Readers following developments on the east coast can also read our report on the 2.3-magnitude earthquake recorded off the Fujairah coast.
Thursday and Friday: Convective Clouds and Humid Mornings
The first half of the UAE weekend weather period is where the changeable conditions are concentrated.
Thursday
Skies will be fair to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective clouds forming over some northern and eastern areas, which could bring rain. Temperatures will climb to the mid to high 30s°C in inland areas and the low to mid 30s along the coast. The mountains will stay much cooler, with highs ranging from the low 20s to around 31°C.
Friday
Conditions will turn humid overnight and into Friday morning along some coastal areas, with humidity reaching up to 90 per cent and raising the chance of mist in the early hours. Convective clouds are expected to develop over eastern and northern areas by the afternoon, bringing a chance of rain.
Winds will also pick up, reaching up to 40km/h at times, which could cause blowing dust and reduce visibility. Seas will be slight to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
Away from the rain-prone areas, the main cities will stay hot and hazy on Friday. Dubai is forecast to reach about 36°C with a low near 26°C. Abu Dhabi is expected to reach around 36°C, dipping to about 25°C at night. Sharjah is set for a similar high of around 36°C, with a low near 23°C.
Saturday: The Hottest Day of the UAE Weekend Weather
Rain chances ease slightly on Saturday, though convective clouds are possible over eastern areas in the afternoon and may bring showers. Winds will be light to moderate, occasionally fresh, reaching up to 35km/h. Seas will be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
Saturday is likely to be the hottest day of the UAE weekend weather period. Highs of about 37°C are forecast for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, and around 36°C for Dubai. Nights in Ras Al Khaimah will be noticeably cooler, falling to around 19°C.
Diwali Forecast for Sunday: Dry and Settled
The Diwali forecast is encouraging for anyone planning gatherings. By Sunday, conditions are expected to settle, with fair to partly cloudy skies and some clouds over northern and eastern areas, but no rain in the forecast.
Temperatures will ease a little. The forecast shows about 34°C in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, 35°C in Sharjah and 36°C in Abu Dhabi. That should make for pleasant evening conditions for Diwali celebrations, and it is the calmest day of the entire UAE weekend weather outlook.
Those planning outdoor evenings may also note that Egyptian superstar Ahmed Saad is set to headline the Global Village main stage on 13 November.
Humidity and Mist: Advice for Motorists
Overall, despite the chance of showers, conditions will remain slightly warm across the country. Inland areas will feel the warmth most, while the mountains stay pleasantly cooler. Humidity will also stay high, especially overnight and in the early mornings along the coast, raising the chance of mist and fog.
Motorists are advised to take care during early morning drives because of possible low visibility, and to stay alert when driving in areas affected by rain or blowing dust. Residents are urged to follow official updates from the NCM throughout the UAE weekend weather period. General guidance and services are also available through the UAE government portal.
Road users should also be aware of the new UAE e-scooter rules for 2027, which make permits mandatory.
